History

1903 Seigakuin Seminary established.
1905 Joshi Seigakuin Division of Theology established.
1906 Seigakuin Middle School established.
1908 Joshi Seigakuin General Division established.
1912 Nakazato Kindergarten (Seigakuin Kindergarten) established.
1947 Revision of the education system leads to the restructuring of Seigakuin Middle Schools: it becomes Seigakuin Junior High School and Senior High School.
1949 Seigakuin Seminary and Joshi Seigakuin Division of Theology, after going through several mergers, are merged with Tokyo Union Theological Seminary.
1951 Revision of Private School Education Law leads to the establishment of Seigakuin Schools, Incorporated.
1960 Joshi Seigakuin Primary School (Seigakuin Primary School) established.
1966 Restructuring of the educational system leads to Joshi Seigakuin General Division being renamed Joshi Seigakuin Junior High School and Senior High School, Seigakuin Primary School, and Seigakuin Kindergarten.
1967 Joshi Seigakuin Junior College established.
1978 Joshi Seigakuin Junior College Attached Kindergarten (Seigakuin Midori Kindergarten) established.
1988 On the basis of the Statement of Ten Principles, Seigakuin University, Faculty of Political Science and Economics (Political Science and Economics Department) and Seigakuin General Research Institute established.
1990 Seigakuin Atlanta International School (Kindergarten Division and Primary School Division) established in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
1992 Seigakuin University, Faculty of Humanities (Euro-American Culture Department and Child Studies Department) established.
1993 Joshi Seigakuin Junior College Attached Kindergarten renamed Seigakuin Midori Kindergarten.
1996 Seigakuin University Graduate School established (Graduate School of Politics and Policy Studies)
1998 Seigakuin University Japanese Culture Department and Human Welfare Department established and added to Faculty of Humanities (Restructuring, leading to the closing of Joshi Seigakuin Junior College and incorporation into Seigakuin University).
1999 Seigakuin University, Graduate School of American-European Culture Studies established. (Ph.D. Initial Stage, [M.A.], and Ph.D. Final Stage).
2000 Seigakuin University, Faculty of Political Science and Economics, Local Community Policy Department established.
2004 Seigakuin University restructured: The Child Studies Department and the Human Welfare Department of the Faculty of Humanities become the Faculty of Human Welfare.
2006 Seigakuin University, Graduate School of Human Welfare Studies established.
2008 20th Anniversary of Seigakuin University.
2012 Seigakuin University, Faculty of Human Welfare, Developmental Child Psychology Department established.
2014 Seigakuin University, Political Science & Economics Department and Local Community Policy Department were integrated.
2018 30th Anniversary of Seigakuin University
Seigakuin University, Faculty of Human Welfare Child Studies Department was reorganized to Faculty of Humanities Child Studies Department.
Seigakuin University, Faculty of Psychology and Social Welfare Psychology and Social Welfare Department established.
Seigakuin Atlanta International School closed.
2019 Seigakuin University, Graduate School of Human Welfare Studies renamed to Graduate School of Psychology and Social Welfare Studies.
2020 Seigakuin University, Graduate School of American-European Culture Studies renamed to Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.
