Professor Paul A. Crow’s Special Service
at Seigakuin University
A special service with Professor Paul A. Crow was
held at the Seigakuin University Chapel on April 25th. Prof. Crow,
a representative of Global Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ), visited Japan to attend the dedication ceremony to celebrate
the completion of Joshi Seigakuin Junior and Senior High School’s
new school building. Dr. Crow formerly taught theology at the university
level, but he is now devoted to the ecumenical movement as a member
of the World Council of Churches.
He talked about his experience of choosing an occupation when he
graduated from his university. He had three choices: to become a
professional baseball player with the New York Yankees, to get a
job as a scientist at DuPont, or to enlist in the army as a First
Lieutenant. Though each of them guaranteed a good salary and high
social status, he was convinced that these would be neither his
first joy nor would they be within God’s will for his life. He then
decided to enter theological seminary and become a pastor.
Prof. Crow now focuses his efforts on the ecumenical movement to
make all Christians united as one.
He gave this special message to the Seigakuin University students
at the end of his sermon:
“Success or money does not always bring satisfaction.
Please respect people from all walks of life.
My great desire is for all of you to become people who will bring
peace on earth.”
