Graduate School of Human Welfare Studies
- Established in April 2006
(M.A. Course) Based
on the Seigakuin tradition and its philosophy of Protestant Christianity,
this course provides education and research programs responding
to the problems of human [social] welfare. In addition, this course
pursues a quality of human welfare that responds to the needs of
people in various circumstances through the comprehensive knowledge
of care and counseling.
Welfare
Course
Students can investigate the difficulties which
people who need social support are facing and undertake projects
that aim to fulfill a true welfare society. Students also become
involved in the lives of elderly or specially challenged people,
gaining an understanding of problems in the social support system
and of assistance techniques.
Child
Studies Course
People are saying children in modern society
have been so changed that they can no longer grasp an understanding
of children’s minds. This course inquires into child development
as it relates to the social environment, the family and the child
care support system. Students can investigate the background of
and solutions to specific problems such as bullying, child abuse,
social withdrawal and suicide.
Clinical
Thanatology and Grief Care Course
This course provides clinical and practical
research on the mind as well as on spiritual problems commonly
experienced by the people of today, many of whom are suffering
mental fatigue and distress, seized with emptiness, or are seriously
contemplating the real meaning of life and death.
